How long will my headband wig last?

Updated by Encelia Support Team

The lifespan of your headband wig by Encelia Hair will vary depending mostly on the hair type that you choose and then on its maintenance and frequency of use. At Encelia Hair, we offer our headband wig in three hair types and below we have listed their average lifespans:

  1. Remy Human Hair: 1.5-2 years
    1. It is crucial to bear in mind that, unlike natural hair, human hair wigs cannot absorb the natural oils and hydration that our biological hair does. Therefore, the wig's hair dries out faster than biological hair, so we must often replenish the moisture that has been lost. Proper hair care products will help keep your human hair wig soft and silky while prolonging its lifespan, review our human hair care guides here
  2. Luxury Synthetic: 1-1.5 years
    1. Keep in mind, that although our luxury synthetic hair looks and has the same characteristics as human hair, caring for this hair is very low-maintenance compared to our two other hair types. You do not need to worry about adding moisture back into the hair and you don't need special synthetic products to care for the hair. Proper care will help keep your luxury synthetic wig soft and silky while prolonging its lifespan, review our luxury synthetic guides here.
  3. Heat-Friendly Synthetic: 6 to 8 months
    1. Use Jon Renau's synthetic fiber love products. Traditional and heat-friendly synthetic hair loves to bind and twine with heat and friction. Because we are not mannequins or dolls, heat and movement naturally occurs when you wear this kind of hair, which results in tangles. It is easy to remove these tangles with a wide-tooth comb or paddle/wig brush. Proper hair care products will help keep your synthetic wig soft and silky while prolonging its lifespan, review our heat-friendly synthetic guides, here.
      1. Keep in mind, a synthetics best friend is water so if the hair is feeling unusually dry, simply apply water to the hair, this will help eliminate frizz and will immediately calm the hair down. If that doesn't work, try a conditioner only treatment, review our detailed tutorial here.
      2. If you are wearing this wig, all day and every day, in the third month, you will probably need to defrizz the ends of the hair using steam, review our detailed tutorial here.
