Lesson 4: How To Quickly Adjust Your WigUpdated 20 days ago
The hard truth is that your wig will move throughout the day, we aren't mannequins; we move and so do our wigs so you need to know how to easily and quickly adjust your wig without worry when your out and about so take some time mastering this skill. First, lets discuss what you do and do not want to do to your wig.
LACE FRONT WIGS ARE DELICATE
The hairline is critical to making the wig look realistic because it recreates our hairline but it is one of the most delicate part of your wig. At Encelia® Hair, our lace front wigs are made with Swiss Lace which is the softest lace on the market and it melts into lighter skin tones but it is very delicate so it can often fray quickly. The lace front is typically the first part of the wig to go, which is why we really don't want to mess with it all that much. Using products like It stays (water based adhesive), Got To Be hairspray, Ghost Bond, etc will dramatically decrease the lifespan of your wig but many women have to use these products because the lace front will not sit flat without these products. This is why we made the decision to offer five cap sizes with a 1/8 folded Swiss lace front. Because the wig is size to fit you, and our lace front is folded with single hand tied knots you do not need to do anything to our wig which will prolong it's lifespan.
DON'T TUCK OR PULL ON YOUR LACE FRONT
As tempting as it may be to pull or tuck your lace front when you are out and about, please try not to. All that "tucking" pulls on the knots causing them to loosen over time. In addition, it can cause your lace to stretch out, which is the worse thing that could happen to you.
HOW TO ADJUST YOUR WIG WITHOUT PULLING ON YOUR LACE FRONT?
By now, you should have a really good foundation on the cap construction of your wig. Here is a our step-by-step tutorial on how to adjust your easily wig without pulling on the lace or top of the wig.
- Locate the tip of the ear tab. At Encelia® Hair, this is where the "stay" begins. This is the edge or point that will allow you to easily adjust your wig without pulling on the lace or top of the wig.
- Grab the tip of the ear tab, push inward and then up. When done correctly you can easily move your wig forward or back. Reposition you wig where you want it to be.
- If your wig is too far back and you can't reposition it with the technique mentioned above then you have to take your wig off. Find a bathroom, take off your wig, turn on your phone camera and put on your wig. Watch and read our help guide on how to put on a wig.
HOW TO EASILY CHECK YOUR WIG THROUGHOUT THE DAY
The reality is that your wig is going to move throughout the day so if you want your wig life to be a breeze you need to master the technique of checking your wig. Maybe you can feel that the wig is too far back, or maybe someone will look at you a little too long. Whatever the case, you can't always run to the bathroom to check your wig.
By now, you know, that your lace front should sit three or four fingers from the arch (peak) of your eyebrow. You should feel the lace on the edge of your third or fourth finger. Well, case what that is how you check your wig. With time, you will know this feeling without even looking in the mirror. The goal is for this feeling to be so innate that you just toss your hand up and know if the wig is off. That feeling will come with time so the more often you practice this the easily it will be to check your wig throughout the day. In the beginning, you will need to look in the mirror so don't be afraid to use your phone to check that your placements are correct.
