How to store a wig?Updated a year ago

Storing your wigs so they are safe, dry will maintain their shape, prolong their lifespan which will definitely help make your wig life a breeze!

DAY-TO-DAY WIG STORAGE

In general, during the week whenever you are not wearing your wig, you should ALWAYS put your wig on "home base" (aka the mannequin head) because it maintains the "dome-like" shape of the head.

Your mannequin head should be smaller than your own head so it doesn't stretch out your wig

HOW TO STORE WIGS THAT YOUR NOT WEARING

Maybe your traveling, or maybe your are swamping different wigs throughout the day or maybe your storing a backup wig, whatever the reason, this is our recommended way to store your wig.

  1. Wash your wig and style it the way you want. Make sure your wig is completely dry before storing it, otherwise, mold and other bacteria can grow.
  2. Brush your wig. Starting at the bottom and working your way up to the up.
  3. Place tissue paper or paper towels inside the wig
  4. Using a hair net, wrap a hair net; this will prevent the hair from getting tangled.
  5. Place your wig in an airtight, waterproof container like ziplock bag, and if possible a box of some kind. Basically, we want to protect the wig from getting wet or from getting squished. Another reason, you want to use an airtight container is because we don't want the hair to loose moisture when not wearing your not wearing it.
    • Try to store your wigs, in a cool and dry places that are away from direct sunlight (like a closet, cabinet, or dresser drawer). Also, ensure your hairpiece is completely dry when storing it to prevent mold and other bacteria from growing.
