How to restore a synthetic wig? (luxury synthetic or heat-friendly fiber)Updated 7 days ago
Just like your own hair, at Encelia, our luxury synthetic hair and our heat-friendly hair can be straightened, styled, and curled. Over time, the ends will feel dry and strands of hair may get super curly (like Kinky hair). No worries, with the right tools and a little time you can restore your synthetic wig in no time!
You will need these items
- Petite rubber mannequin head - aka home base, this mannequin is petite, so it won't stretch out your wig; the rubber base allows you to easily secure your wig in place with wig pins, and the hairline outline will help you "set" your wig to maintain the "dome-like" shape of the head.
- Stable heavy tripod
- Wig Pins - unlike t-pins, these pins won't pull the hair when you brush your wig
- Wig Brush - The Flexible design of this brush will help you quickly and gently brush your wig without pulling on the hair and knots, which can cause shedding.
- Wig Setting Brush | Teasing Brush - This unique boar/nylon teasing brush will help you easily redirect the knots/hair on the wig, making it the ultimate wig tool for your weekly wash.
- Spray bottle filled with water
- Flat iron - we prefer the L'Oreal Steam Pod

Step 1
Pro tip, treat your wig hair like you would baby hair/heads - be gentle and you will prolong the lifespan of your wig.
Using a wig brush, gently brush your hair, starting at the bottom and working your way to the top of the wig.
Step 2
Setup the temperature of the flat iron or flat iron between 285-305 degrees Fahrenheit or 140-150 Celsius.
Step 3
Grab the bottom section of the wig and clip the remainder of the hair away. Then grab a 1/2 - 1" inch of hair. Mist the hair with water and gentle brush the hair.
Step 4
Grab your brush and push the hair through the bristles. Then grab your flat iron and place it above the hair brush. Work slow - counting 1000, 1001, 1002. It should take you about 20 secs to get to the bottom of the hair.
Step 5
To add curls, turn on your curling iron. Mist hair. Tightly roll up the hair into the curling iron, and hold it in that position for 20 seconds. Then release the hair from the curling iron and hold the hair in your hand for 20 secs allowing the hair to cool and the curl to set.
Pro tip, Alternate the barrel left and right for a more natural-looking look. Watch the full video tutorial here
