How To Get A Silky Smooth, High Ponytail In A Headband Wig

If you want a silky smooth, high ponytail in the Encelia headband wig then this is the guide for you. One of my customers wanted the transition from the headband to hair to be completely smooth and flat. Watch me achieve this look in less than 10 mins our iconic luxury synthetic hair.

PRODUCTS NEEDED:

Petite rubber mannequin head - aka home base, this mannequin is petite, so it won't stretch out your wig; the rubber base allows you to easily secure your wig in place with wig pins, and the hairline outline will help you "set" your wig to maintain the "dome-like" shape of the head.
Stable heavy tripod
Wig Pins - unlike t-pins, these pins won't pull the hair when you brush your wig
Wig Brush - The Flexible design of this brush will help you quickly and gently brush your wig without pulling on the hair and knots, which can cause shedding.
Teasing Brush - This unique boar/nylon teasing brush will help you easily redirect the knots/hair on the wig, making it the ultimate wig tool for your weekly wash.
Spray bottle filled with water
Rounded barrel curling iron
Hair mousse (optional)
Elastic Hair Tie

STEP 1: Secure wig to the mannequin using the t pins

Apply the t pins just after the headband.

STEP 2: Mist the hair and brush your wig
Mist the hair with water and then brush your wig. Starting on the bottom and working your way to the top

STEP 3: Set curling iron to 200 degrees Fahrenheit or 93 Celsius.

STEP 4: Apply hair mousse to the front and bottom

The mousse will help hold the hair up and smooth the transition.

STEP 5: Put hair in the ponytail

Working in sections, starting at the top. Brush the hair up and as high as you want. Then use your teasing comb to smooth out the bumps. Then using your curling iron smooth out the hair. Apply the curling iron to the hair for 15-20 seconds. Then move to the next section and repeat.

PRO TIP: If the hair gets dry, mist the hair with water.

STEP 8: Set the ponytail (optional)

Beachy Waves (loose & bouncy)use a 1.5" - 2" size barrel
Glamorous Curls (wavy & curly) use a 1.25"-1" size barrel
Tight curls use a 3/4"-3/8" size barrel

For Curly Hair: Tightly roll up the hair into the curling iron, and hold it in that position for 20 seconds. Then release the hair from the curling iron and hold the hair in your hand for 20 secs allowing the hair to cool and the curl to set.

For Straight Hair: Starting at the top of the wig, spray some water on the hair and then using the teasing brush, remove any tangles then work down. Work slow - counting 1000, 1001, 1002. It should take you about 20 secs to get to the bottom of the hair.

The best part, the "style" will last for multiple washes so you don't have to restyle the luxury synthetic hair after every wash!

Note: All Encelia Luxury Synthetic wigs are low-maintenance because they air-dry beautifully. The hair will air-dry back to its previous style, meaning no additional styling is needed. If you want to curl or straighten the hair, please refer to this tutorial.
